S.O.S. PARIS :
Saving the city's heritage and environment
About us

Eiffel Tower and 1970 Pompidou's towers
S.O.S. Paris was founded in 1973 with the purpose of defending the architectural heritage of the city, preserving the urban environment for its population.
The association has gained legal and technical expertise to help it intervene at all stages of a project’s planning process. It functions with a chairman, general secretary, and at least one delegate per district (arrondissement), all of whom give their services on a voluntary basis. They keep track of all requests for building or demolition permits and hence are in a position to discuss projects with the authorities (the city of Paris and mayors of the arrondissements), with the architects working under the French Culture Ministry as well as with real estate developers

The association can also bring what it deems to be improper building-permit autorizations before the Administrative Tribunal. It publishes a quarterly bulletin on its activities particularly for elected city officials, for its members and access on this website.
Our goal : to weigh on decisions concerning the future of Paris. We are here to help city councillors make the right decisions and prevent technocrats and developers from having the last word.
We capitalize on the hidden energy of all Paris lovers by offering them a structure that political instances cannot provide.
